Chapter 34

Epilogue Two

Epilogue Two

Luke

One year later

"Honey, I'm home!” I shout as I walk into the house and slam the door behind me. Walking to the kitchen, I expect to see Clarabella sitting at the island, but all that is there is her purse. Her shoes are kicked off beside the island. “Hello!" I shout up the stairs, and after a minute, when I don't hear anything, I walk up the steps. I go straight to our room and see the bed is still unmade from the morning, the picture of us from our wedding above the bed, and every single time I see it, I smile. "Clarabella?" I call her name and see the bathroom door is closed.

"In here." Her voice comes out soft, and I walk over and open the door, expecting her to be in the bath. She isn't. Instead, she is sitting in the middle of the bathroom with her legs crossed and a brown bag beside her. There are open boxes next to her and in front of her are what look like five or six white markers.

"What are you doing?" I ask and see the worry on her face.

"Do you know what these are?" She points at the things in front of her.

I walk over and squat down in front of her and see a tear rolling down her cheek, and my whole body goes stiff. My stomach is in my throat, and my whole body goes on alert as every single possible scenario goes through my mind. “I have no idea," I say to her and reach out to pick up one. I turn over the white stick in my hand and see the word Pregnant in the middle of it. My eyes fly back to her.

"I know," she says softly. “I mean, I didn't know, which is why I decided I needed to take six. I don't know how it happened.”

"Well, we do have a lot of sex,” I remind her. “Are you sad about having a baby with me?" I can't even swallow the lump in my throat.

"No." She gets up on her knees. "I was scared you would be sad."

"What?" I say, shocked. "Why the fuck would you even think that?"

"I don't know. We never really discussed it," she says, getting up and pacing in front of me.

"Did you or did you not tell me you want babies?" I get up, still holding the test in my hand.

"Well, yeah, I told you that I wanted babies." She puts her hands on her hips. “But you never said you did."

"I married you." I chuckle. “Which means that I accepted everything you wanted." She just opens her mouth, and then I take the steps to her. “It's an honor for you to have our babies. There is no one else in the whole world I want to have kids with. There is no one else in the whole world I want to do life with except you." I hold her face in my hands and kiss her lips.

"That was sweet," she says. “But I peed on that stick, and it's now on my face." I drop my hands and laugh just like I always do.

"Everything with you is laughter and joy." I look back down at the stick in my hand. “And I can't wait for our children to feel what it is to be loved." My eyes come back up to find hers. "Not going to lie, I'm scared that I'm not going to know what to do."

"Please." She rolls her eyes. “All the babies love you. It's like you're a baby whisperer."

My whole chest feels like it's going to explode. "This is crazy." I shake my head. She comes to me and wraps her arms around my chest.

"And just like that." She smiles.

Nothing says forever like two pink lines!

Presley

After my sisters’ disastrous weddings, I’m never going to get married.

I’ll just stay single forever.

It doesn’t matter that I’m in love with my brother’s best friend.

Or that Bennett and I shouldn’t even be friends with benefits.

Until the positive sign tells me I’m pregnant.

Bennett

I fell in love with Presley when she was eighteen and asked me for a favor.

She didn’t want to go to college a virgin.

I said no, but she kissed me, and I was lost in her.

Years later, I’ll take her with any rules she gives me.

She thinks this is just a fling. She’s wrong.

Because she’s always been mine to love.
