E, I know it’s hard to lose me to other worlds during the months I spend writing these books, but please know the love stories I write are only possible because of the love we have and the love we grow together. Our little family is my favorite love story, and my favorite to read again and again. I promise I’ll take a break now.
Annie, sharing this with you is the best sort of gift. I am especially grateful for it this year and how selfless you continue to be despite your own universe being shaken up. Your capacity for love and generosity and kindness are the things that shine brightest around you. I hope you always know how much I treasure you and our friendship. I hold it very close to my heart. Sarah, thank you for holding my hand and listening to my rambling messages and sitting with me in city bars as we talk about fictional characters. My very favorite place to be is in the seat next to you, talking about people, places, and things that only exist in our hearts and heads.
